My Therapy Style

My focus as a practitioner is to help you connect with your authentic self, attune to your values and needs, and learn practical tools to improve your quality of life. With over 10 years of experience serving a diverse range of individuals, I provide a therapy experience that is warm, empowering, and puts your goals at the forefront of care. I specialize in trauma-informed, attachment-focused therapy, with an emphasis on cultural humility, honoring the brain/body connection, and holistic wellness. If you are ready to heal from within, then I am here to act as your ally in that process.

I specialize in individual therapy for teens and adults, and proudly serve people of all racial, cultural, gender, sexual orientation, spiritual and ability backgrounds. I have specialized training with the LGBTQ+, Transgender, Gender Non-Confirming and Queer community, and have a passion for helping these individuals thrive as in our often complex world. I adjust my treatment approach and use of modalities to meet your unique needs, and thoughtfully engage you in the treatment planning process. I am responsive to feedback, and eager to learn from you as we work together as equals.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

As a life-longer lover of learning, adventure, and building relationships, I was drawn to study psychology after spending over two years in Botswana, Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer. That experience pushed me outside of my comfort zone, and challenged me to learn the essence of the human psyche that transcends time zones. I applied to graduate school while completing my Peace Corps service, and knew that fostering a career in a helping profession, especially one that emphasizes diversity, inclusion and cultural humility, would allow me to further grow while simultaneously facilitating healthy growth in others. I am grateful to have been afforded the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with others, and continue to learn from those I serve in the process.

What are your interests outside of work?

When I’m not in session, you can find me being active in our community, searching out food festivals and new restaurants, practicing mindfulness in the little moments, and cuddling my two adorable puppy nephews. I am originally from the Bay Area, but moved to Sacramento in 2018 to join family in the area and build a life in this wonderful town. I am an outgoing person who loves to laugh, and hope to share this spirit with you in our work together!

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

My approach to staying healthy is to stick to the basics: protecting my seep, drinking lots of water, regular exercise (for me, the more intense the better!), a splash of sunshine, social connection, a balanced diet (think fresh fish, leafy greens and the occasional Mac and Cheese), and prayer/mindfulness practices. I will also shamelessly ask to pet your dog, as fur babies make for excellent mood boosters!

How do you recharge?

As an outgoing and playful person, I often recharge by intentionally seeking moments of solitude and silence. Whether it’s a short walk on my lunch break, long run on the weekends, a moment of prayer/contemplation, or just a few slow deep breaths while driving, I capture stillness where I can. It gives me a break from the ‘go go go’ of life, allows me time to connect with my body and reflect on my emotions, and feel energized for the next experience to come.
