I became a mental health therapist because I wanted to help erase the stigma that people of color cannot talk about mental health struggles or seek treatment. I continued my education and went back to nursing school because I want to become a Psychiatric NP. I want to continue to reach people of color by expanding my clinical abilities and support that medication management should also be encouraged and explored.
I love to travel my favorite trip to date has been Roatan Island in Honduras, and the time I spent in Costa Rica. I love to cook and bake, at Christmas time you can find me in the kitchen making 300+ Christmas cookies.
I spend a few minutes each day completing a mindful practice whether its a daily reflection or prayer. I also try to exercise at least 5 days a week it helps me feel centered.
The Loveland Foundation is an organization that supports women of color receive therapy. They provide up to 12 vouchers a year for women in need to receive therapy free of charge. I also have a deep love for the Trevor Project, I firmly believe in intersectionality and showing up for other communities, even though I am not a part of the LGBTQ community, I consider myself a strong ally who continues her education. The Trevor Project is is the world's largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for the LGBTQ community.
