My Therapy Style

When you're feeling upset and out of control about your life, you need to know that your therapist really cares. You need to know that you will not be judged for your beliefs, thoughts, or actions. In a safe therapeutic relationship, you can process your feelings. You can be gently guided to make real, lasting changes. Therapy should not be cookie-cutter; everyone is brilliantly unique. What works for some people doesn't work for others. Especially if you're neurodivergent, you might find that some aspects of daily life challenge you much more than they do for someone who is neurotypical. If you've been through any kind of trauma, you might be feeling stuck and hopeless. With the right therapist for you, you will learn to accept yourself.

As a therapist for over 15 years, my therapeutic style is person-centered, trauma-informed, attachment-based, and culturally sensitive. I am a neurodiversity-affirming and LGBTQ+-affirming clinician. Through active listening and validation, you will feel that you have someone in your corner. Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship issues, and/or food issues, you should know that there is hope for change. The happiness that you want to experience in life is possible.

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I've always wanted a career that was meaningful and helped people. I feel that it is my calling.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

Meditation (even just a few minutes) always helps me feel more centered and calm.

What book have you read more than once?

Reading The Alchemist always makes me feel more hopeful about myself and the future.

How do you recharge?

Walking, meditating, being with my kids, and trying new things-like learning to play guitar.
