Therapy Style

My approach to therapy is to create a comfortable and safe environment for individuals to process complex thoughts and emotions. I recognize that being vulnerable is quite scary and often very uncomfortable, especially with a stranger but with the right guidance, empathy, and support we will be able to identify and reach your goals as a team.

I primarily utilize CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to help clients identify the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behavior. I also implement ACT (Acceptance/Commitment Therapy) in therapy to instruct clients in developing mindfulness skills to help individuals learn how to relax and face their fears on their own free from judgment in order to cultivate self-compassion and acceptance. I have experience working with individuals struggling with mood disorders (Depression/Anxiety), relationship issues, as well as individuals struggling with substance abuse/addiction. My Christian faith is also very important to me and I am willing to provide faith-based counseling for those who are interested.

What are your interests outside of work?

I enjoy reading books related to psychology, theology, and nutrition. I also enjoy outdoor activities such as playing tennis, golf, going to the beach, and going on a nice hike out in nature.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your mental and emotional well-being?

Something that I'm trying to do more consistently is to read The Bible and utilize prayer more in my daily life for mental and emotional well-being.

What book have you read more than once?

Changes That Heal by Dr. Henry Cloud, I find myself coming back to this book a lot for its wisdom on instructing readers to learn how to actually bond with others for truly intimate relationships, learn how to actually develop a sense of self by separating from others, understand the good and bad in ourselves and others, and lastly growing emotionally and spiritually toward adulthood.
