I believe that every person who seeks therapy already possesses the necessary skills within themselves to make significant changes in their behavior and overall functioning. Offering guidance and direction, I will join you on your journey of gaining insight and replacing unhealthy coping mechanisms with more adaptive ways of coping that enhance wellness and mental clarity. I have worked extensively with individuals who have turned to substance use as a means of coping with difficult emotions, oftentimes stemming from a history of trauma. I utilize various modalities, some of which are the Matrix Model, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I will work with you in the first few sessions to establish treatment goals that are attainable in a reasonable amount of time. I will offer homework assignments to reinforce information discussed in therapy, and to further the progress that is being made within sessions. I strongly encourage the development of a healthy social support network and am open to coordinating care with any other providers that you may be working with simultaneously to being in therapy. My goal as your therapist is to ensure your success in becoming a healthier and happier version of yourself.
