My Therapy Style

Most of my early experience is with elementary-aged children and adolescents providing individual and family therapy. My later experience in private practice has led me to work with adults who are navigating life transitions, and parenting challenges or adults who present with stress, anxiety, and depression. I also work with young adults navigating adulthood, existential crisis, and relationships. I am a very active participant in therapy. Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

When I figured out how many professionals (teachers, counselors, social workers) had failed me as a little girl. I discovered a passion and desire to be in a position of helping others.

What are your interests outside of work?

My interest outside of work are weightlifting, trail walking with my labradoodle, Mikey, and taking frequent trips to Disneyland with my kids. I am also an active member of our school district's Community Advisory Committee. As a committed member I bring up issues related to students with IEPs to help improve our special education system. I have created a support group for parents with special needs kids in which developed into my support system. We hang out, have play dates, and share celebrations.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

One thing I do that supports my mental health are daily mindfulness walks with my dog and I read books on mental health and well-being.

What book have you read more than once?

There are many books that I've read countless times. Some of these re-reads include The Body Keeps Score, Unmasking Autism, The Explosive Child, and Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents (I recommend this book to many of my clients).

How do you recharge?

I have learned and live by the four pillars of well-being: sleep, nutrition, movement/exercise, and social connectedness.

Do you have any pets?

Mikey! He's a sweet and wonderful Labradoodle who came into our lives when our youngest son was diagnosed with Autism, developmental delays, and speech delays.
