Why did you become a mental health professional?

I became a mental health professional because I have always been deeply moved by the human experience and the resilience of the human spirit. From a young age, I felt a strong sense of empathy and compassion for others, particularly those who were struggling with emotional pain and trauma. I wanted to make a difference in people's lives by providing a safe and supportive environment where they could heal and grow.

My commitment to trauma-informed care and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy stems from a desire to provide effective, evidence-based treatments that truly address the root causes of distress. I am driven by the belief that every person deserves to be heard, understood, and supported in a safe, non-judgmental space. By becoming a mental health professional, I aim to empower individuals to overcome their struggles, build resilience, and achieve lasting emotional well-being.

Every individual's path is different, and I have always been fascinated by the diverse ways people navigate their emotional landscapes and life challenges. Ultimately, I became a mental health professional to honor and support the unique journeys of those I work with, helping them overcome their struggles and achieve emotional well-being.

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I'm all about fun and adventure! I love diving into a good book and getting lost in different worlds. Hiking and exploring the great outdoors are my go-to activities for a dose of fresh air and excitement. My dog and I are inseparable—we love playing, walking, and having little adventures together. Spending time with friends, sharing laughs, and making memories always brighten my days. These cherished connections keep me happy, balanced, and ready for whatever life throws my way!

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

One thing I do daily to support my mental and emotional well-being is walking, playing, and spending time with my dog. This routine not only keeps me physically active but also provides a sense of joy and companionship. The simple act of being outdoors with my dog allows me to clear my mind, reduce stress, and stay grounded. This daily ritual is a cherished part of my self-care practice, helping me maintain balance and emotional health in both my personal and professional life. The fact that she is such a sweet and cute pup makes it even more fun!

Favorite organization/non-profit?

My favorite organization is SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice) because it actively engages White people in social justice work while partnering with and following the lead of organizations led by people of color. This approach not only fosters meaningful allyship but also ensures that efforts are guided by those most impacted by racial injustice. SURJ's commitment to education, accountability, and solidarity resonates deeply with my values and inspires my own dedication to promoting equity and justice in my community.
