I specialize in working with adults affected by complex trauma and helping them feel safer and more hopeful to create a life worth living.

My Therapy Style

For over a decade, I have been supporting individuals across the lifespan with culturally sensitive therapy. In addition to helping people work through anxiety and depression, I specialize in working with adults affected by complex trauma and helping them feel safer and more hopeful to create a life worth living. I also support people with marginalized identities to process the stressful impacts of oppression and increase experiences of empowerment and connection. I look forward to helping you identify your values, practice coping strategies, and work toward specific goals to improve your mental health.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I studied chemistry at college but later realized I would probably do better in a profession that involved working with people (even though I am an introvert!) After spending a year in Japan working in a faith-based organization and encountering significant mental health needs, I decided to pursue further studies in psychology. As a second-generation bicultural Taiwanese/Chinese American psychologist, I am especially interested in helping people who are navigating cultural and identity issues in their healing process. For certain communities, there is often a stigma around seeking mental healthcare, and I want to provide a safe and affirming space for my clients.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

I might be biased, but I currently serve as Board President of Centerforce, which is an Oakland-based nonprofit that supports individuals and families impacted by incarceration. Our staff provides individual case management and teaches workshops on couples communication/parenting to assist individuals with reentry and family reunification.

How do you recharge?

I like to spend time meeting up with friends, visiting new cafes, and going hiking. I also enjoy traveling and exploring new places.

Do you have any pets?

As a child, we owned two female rabbits, and one summer, our neighbor's (male) rabbit visited our yard. We decided to let them all be friends by letting them roam free together. In a few weeks we had probably upwards of 30 rabbits running around the yard at one time!
