Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I decided to explore the field of mental health after experiencing a family crisis while in college. For the first time in my life, I had to seek professional help from a therapist to help me cope with the crisis. It was challenging to find a therapist who could relate to me culturally and ethnically. I did not find therapy to be beneficial and it was more traumatizing. My goal was to become a culturally informed therapist so that others would not have to have a similar experience.

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy pilates and hot yoga. I love to laugh and watch a lot of reality TV.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

Every morning I write my thoughts and concerns in my journal and use a prompt to help set the intentions for the day.

How do you recharge?

I reserve time for vacation. During most of my vacations I like to disconnect from everyday life by relaxing by a pool or ocean with a good mystery novel.
