Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I truly feel honored to work in this profession. I get to sit across from people each day and have genuine, authentic conversations about life, joy, pain, and everything in between. To connect with people of all ages about our shared humanity, and to lift one another during times of difficulty. I didn’t set out to be a therapist but fell in love with the role after pursuing a career in social work.

What are your interests outside of work?

Snowboarding, camping, hiking, playing guitar, cooking, and traveling. I’ve lived in Spain for 1 year, in Kenya for 2 summers, traveled by bus from Argentina to Mexico in 2016, and most recently did an around-the-world trip in 6 weeks.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I love to journal, keep a gratitude practice, and mindful meditation. I’ve found holistic wellness to be transformative for me and my personal growth over the past decade, i.e. finding ways to nurture my mind, body, and spirit. Mental health is only one piece of the puzzle! Physical health, relational health, spiritual health, etc all play a role in overall well-being.

What book have you read more than once?

Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead by Brené Brown.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

Make-A-Wish Foundation. When I was young they granted my little sister a wish and it was a day I’ll never forget.

How do you recharge?

With 8-10 hours of good sleep! Or a fun meal with a good friend. Taking in a beach sunset alone with my toes in the sand. Or a solo walk with my favorite music playing through my headphones.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, a very large Bernese Mountain Dog named Jojo.
