Why did you become a mental health professional?

I became a mental health professional because my life journey has given me many so many lived experiences and I have broken many family traumas. Resiliency is a beautiful challenge that brings peace and acceptance. I truly believe in humanity's ability to heal.

What are your interests outside of work?

I love to put my hands in the dirt, so gardening is a beautiful way to care for myself and the earth. I like to work out because it's good for releasing stress and regenerating. I also like to cook and love to spend down time with my family and laugh.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

Daily I go outside and give thanks for the earth we walk and air we breathe. I hug myself and those around me tightly and laugh! I also get up and walk around, to not be sedentary.

What book have you read more than once?

The Red Tent by Anita Damiant, because it reminds me that I am a strong life giver. The Fledgling by Octavia E. Butler, because it does a beautiful job of using fiction and horror to explore identity, sexuality, and racism.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice, because of their mission to support and bring advocacy to everyone from a social justice perspective.

How do you recharge?

I recharge through practicing my indigenous spiritual practices.

Do you have any pets?

I have 3 family dogs. They make me laugh daily, because they each have such distinct temperaments.
