Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I became a mental health professional from a desire to support people and young people while they are going through trauma and difficulty so that they can have a smoother journey towards the rest of their lives. I learned from a young age that I had a gift of listening and empathizing with others and this profession helps me offer this service to the greater community.

What are your interests outside of work?

I enjoy movement of all types, engaging with empowering youth, spending time with my family, learning new things, and exploring nature when it is not too hot in Arizona.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I exercise and meditate daily to support emotional and mental well-being and engage in my community supports.

What book have you read more than once?

I have read Gleanings by Baha'u'llah several times because it is a book that invokes transformation through these writings and helps me get clear on being in alignment with life and others around me.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

The Haven Residential Program in Tucson, Arizona. This is a program for women and they do great work at supporting women going through addiction, homelessness, recovery from trauma and they also offer Indigenous oriented services for the original people of Arizona/United States.

How do you recharge?

I recharge by dancing, reading and spending time with my family and nature.

Do you have any pets?

I had a sweet dog, Chubaka who passed away in 2022. In his life, he once got out of the gate of the house and was lost for 2 months eventually found him as one day a little girl in an apartment complex asked her dad to make two sandwiches; he asked her why she needed the extra sandwich and the girl told her dad that it was for the schoolyard dog. The father had just seen a flyer for our lost Chubaka and inquired about this dog at his daughter's school. It ended up that this was Chubaka-and he had found his way to an alley behind an elementary school yard, the neighbors had built him a little dog house in the alley and the kids were feeding him.
