My Therapy Style

I use an approach where we identify your strengths and play on those. As an Asian American, I am particularly passionate about working with minorities and helping them weave their bicultural narrative. I believe that therapy should address the whole person, considering your inner world & culture. Therapy should be collaborative, with the client and therapist coming together to identify goals. It is a learning journey we will go on together. I will give you tools that you can take with you into your everyday life. 3 factors that guide how I practice– are unconditional positive regard, authenticity, and empathy.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I wanted to support others and help them to create the changes they desire.

What are your interests outside of work?

I enjoy yoga, arts, family time, and reading.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I practice my breathing and inner reflection throughout my day.

What book have you read more than once?

I've read Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth and Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People multiple times.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

I am very interested in South Asian American mental health as it's my research focus and close to my heart on a personal level. South Asian Mental Health Initiative & Network (SAMHIN) and Asian Mental Health Collective (AMHC) are two organizations I admire for their leadership and advocacy.

Do you have any pets?

I have 2 cats, Iago (like the parrot from Aladdin) and Magellan (like the explorer). They both have such big personalities and my favorite is watching them interact with each other. Lago is the slow moving alpha while Magellan is the playful child.
