Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I decided to become a therapist after my first experience with therapy at 14 years old. I was in awe that there was a dedicated person to listen to me and help me feel seen. That experience changed my life, inspiring me to provide the same support and understanding to others.

What are your interests outside of work?

My interests can vary greatly depending on the season of my life. I love spending time with my family, traveling, and diving into a good book. I'm also a crafting and crocheting enthusiast. My four dogs keep me on my toes, and I balance it all out with some strength training and, of course, a good nap. Because, honestly, who doesn't love a good nap?

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

To support my well-being and mental health, I prioritize exercise and sleep. These keep me energized and aligned, ready to tackle the day's demands. I also make time for my hobbies, ensuring I maintain a healthy balance in life.

What book have you read more than once?

I've read The 4 Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz multiple times. This book, written by a BIPOC author, emphasizes four agreements that help you focus on yourself and find new meaning in life. It acknowledges the impact of culture and upbringing, offering profound insights into personal growth and self-discovery.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

One of my favorite organizations is El Nido Family Services. They provide community-based services to underserved communities in LA County. This organization holds a special place in my heart, as they supported me during my teenage years when I needed it most.

How do you recharge?

As an introvert, I find the best way to recharge is by having some downtime. Whether it's reading, sitting outside, taking a nap, or just scrolling through my phone—anything that gives me the chance to be quiet and unwind. It's essential for me to have these moments to myself to feel refreshed and ready to engage again.

Do you have any pets?

I have four dogs — my babies! They bring me endless joy and come in all sizes, from large to pint-sized. Every evening, like clockwork between 5-6 PM, they start a full-on rumble. It always begins with the smallest one, and soon all of them are zooming around the house. The scene is pure chaos: dogs barking, kids yelling at them to chill out, and the TV competing for attention. It's utter madness, but honestly, it's the highlight of my day!
