I believe that psychotherapy requires the ability to understand culture, socioeconomic factors, and ethnicity.

My Therapy Style

I utilize a culturally competent approach to assessment and believe that psychotherapy requires the ability to understand culture, socioeconomic factors, and ethnicity. My approach begins with establishing a therapist-client relationship by creating a safe, nurturing nonjudgmental environment to address your concerns and challenges. In addition, I understand addiction and the challenges that people face who struggle with substance use. I can assist you with determining if your substance use is problematic.

I became a mental health professional because of my curiosity about human behavior and communication.

Travel, dance, exercise, skating, billiards, diamond painting, pintoo puzzing, and spending time with family and friends.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I enjoy mindfulness and guided meditation.

What book have you read more than once?

Peace From Broken Pieces by Iyanla Vanzant. I read and learned that to make peace with my broken pieces, I have to let go of the shards of a broken past that I'm still holding onto. I've learned to make peace with the pain by forgiving someone who doesn't deserve my forgiveness. And, I am honest about who I really am, because if I know my weaknesses, I can be strong.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital because of its mission and work with children. Its mission is to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.

How do you recharge?

A good, long nap and a warm cup of green tea; or a warm cup of green tea and a chat with a friend.
