My Therapy Style

The bulk of my experience is working with BIPOC women. When working with clients, my goal is not to tell clients what to do. I spend time listening and asking questions so clients can come to their realizations. I find it more effective when clients develop a clear understanding of their own. When they hear what they say aloud, they often have an "aha" moment. Once they come to the realization, I sometimes turn to a solution-focused model to offer guidance in determining the next steps.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I've always paid more attention to people's feelings. As I got older, I realized that I couldn't get away from that. I enjoy spending time listening to people talk and finding ways to offer guidance to them. Being from the Caribbean, I also wanted people of my culture to see a familiar face so they could be comfortable talking to someone.

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I like to go shopping, go on family outings, and watch my favorite tv shows (SVU and Chicago PD).

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I pray and read my Bible or devotional. I listen to my music before and in-between sessions.

How do you recharge?

I plan days off to just be home doing nothing.
