Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I became a mental health professional because I believe our deepest need is to be seen, safe, and affirmed as worthy. Witnessing the transformative power of therapy in my own life and the lives of those around me inspired me to pursue this path. I am passionate about helping others navigate life's challenges and discover the power of their inner and communal strengths. Mental health is a critical aspect of overall well-being, and I am committed to providing support, guidance, and compassion to individuals seeking to improve their mental health. My goal is to empower clients to overcome obstacles, build resilience, and lead fulfilling lives.

What are your interests outside of work?

I am passionate about healing art curation, which allows me to explore creativity and cultural expression while advancing our collective well-being and joy. I also enjoy spending quality time with my family, friends, and sorority sisters. Additionally, I love to travel and explore new places, finding inspiration in different cultures and landscapes. Another passion of mine is boating; I find peace and joy in being on the water, whether it's sailing or cruising. My involvement in community service and advocacy through organizations like Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, National Council of Negro Women, and the Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Center also brings me fulfillment, as it aligns with my commitment to fostering community safety, well-being, and joy.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

One daily practice that profoundly supports my mental and emotional well-being is integrating "wake, walk, and worship." Each morning, I begin by waking up mindfully, setting intentions for the day ahead. I then take a refreshing walk outdoors, allowing nature to invigorate my senses and clear my mind. During this time, I reflect on gratitude and embrace moments of solitude, which helps ground me emotionally. Lastly, I engage in worship or spiritual practice, whether through prayer, meditation, or connecting with my faith community. This integrated routine not only nurtures my physical health through exercise but also cultivates mental clarity and emotional resilience, providing a balanced start to each day.
