Therapy Style

As a bilingual Latino clinician, I have successfully used my clinical skills by applying Cognitive Behavior Therapy interventions and Motivational Interviewing, with individuals experiencing depression, PTSD and anxiety. My passion for clinical work, along with my interpersonal skills, has made me effective at building rapport with clients as they move through burnout, life transitions and through the stages of change. My ability to connect with clients at each step of the treatment process has helped them achieve successful outcomes, symptom stabilization, and self determination.

Why did you become a mental health professional?

My passion grew from seeing family members struggle with depression and anxiety. Other life experiences showed me that individuals struggled with their mental health due to the stigma of seeing a therapist. I knew I wanted to help others and make a change by breaking down the stigma of seeking help and showing individuals that there is hope.

What are your interests outside of work?

I enjoy reading biographies, as well as exploring restaurants, going to outdoor concerts and taking drives up the California coast.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I enjoy taking daily morning walks with my dog. I have found this beneficial for my self-care. Along with walking, going to the gym 3 days per week has been very helpful.

How do you recharge?

I sit down for a quiet dinner followed by watching a show or two on Netflix or Hulu.

Do you have any pets?

I have a Husky/Shepherd at home. She is a joy to be around, but she can get into a lot of trouble, especially when she chases and fights gophers.
