I value the therapeutic relationship and believe that change will occur when a client feels safe, supported, and heard.

My Therapy Style

My approach combines various modalities and I will utilize the style that best meets the needs of my client and then tailor the therapy as trust is built. While I am warm and empathetic, I will also challenge each client's belief system, as change will not occur without learning newer, positive ways of thinking. I believe this journey continues between sessions and I will often give "homework" when appropriate. I value the therapeutic relationship and believe that change will occur when a client feels safe, supported, and heard.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

From the time I was an adolescent, I was always the one my friends went to if they had a problem or just needed to vent. I realized from early on I had a gift for helping others and I was excited that this could be a career path. I find it very rewarding hearing from a friend or a patient that they feel better because I have helped them.

What are your interests outside of work?

I love to read, especially psychological thrillers and historical fiction, but recently I joined a book club and am now reading different genres. I love listening to crime podcasts. I enjoy going to the theatre/broadway shows with my family, especially with my kids who are very active in theatre.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I walk my dog every morning, I get fresh air, greet my neighbors, and listen to my podcast or audiobook — no better way to start the day!

How do you recharge?

I play word games on my tablet — I look forward to it each day when I have downtime. I take walks with my friends or share a cup of coffee with them.

Do you have any pets?

I have a 7 year old black lab (Luna) and my family and I like to say we are her emotional support humans. She got even more attached to us during quarantine and now if I have a friend over she barks at them until they leave and she can have me all to herself. But she is afraid of stairs and my workaround is to go to another floor with that friend. Yes, the dog is literally stuck on one floor of our house because she refuses to go up or down 6 steps!
