My Therapy Style

In a world filled with unrest, unwanted chatter, societal pressure, and overwhelming obligations, as a therapist, I sit with clients and listen to their hurts, needs, and desires. I help them to make sense of all the things that rob them of their peace. My job is to help clients unburden themselves and find strength within. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is an organized, short-term, present-oriented psychotherapy for solving current problems and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. I also incorporate coping skills and behavioral changes.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I was mediator for a number of years working with litigants and through that role I realized that my favorite part was helping clients to work through their emotional issues in order to come to a resolution. That's when I decided to go back to school and become a counselor.

What are your interests outside of work?

I like to ride horses and spend time with them. I also like to spend time with family, and I love to bake.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I have quiet time every morning where I pray, meditate, and read God's word.

What book have you read more than once?

I'm actually reading the book right now for the second time and it is called A Shepherd Looks At Psalm 23. It ministered to me, and I wanted to study it more. I've also re-read books on certain modalities for counseling.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

Triple H Equitherapy in Pipe Creek Texas. They work with horses and clients who struggle with emotional and physical problems. It is an amazing process where the horses heal people's hearts. I love what they do so much that I'm a contractor there providing therapy with the horses.

How do you recharge?

Baking and cooking!
